The Northern Coast of CA always Provides

It’s the way that the earth meets the sea 100 miles North of the bay area. The uninhabitable sheer cliffs drop off into a vast ocean below, reminding you that this whole thing is so much larger than your tiny human self.

One winding highway stretches ahead l, weaving though pockets of filtered light from the shade of coastal cypress trees overhead. Large stretches of golden grass dashed between the curves provide breaks in both the road and in your mental space. This, I can only assume, is why Jaclyn and Thomas chose this land to be married. This place is filled with very few people and so much magic.

I should say first that Jaclyn is my sister in law. We’ve spent the past 14 years and countless days bullshitting and developing our little tribe of family. Thomas, her man, is already one of us. So the bond that we were celebrating had been been in the process of being written for years before. The wedding weekend was a long awaited party for of the two of them, and less a union of something newly forged. This was a chance to gather with Thomas’ family and get loose! We would leave everything else behind in the name of Tom and Jac.

I helped Jaclyn find her way to some of my favorite wedding vendors. Gina of Bloom Generation provided some of the most stunning floral bouquets I have ever seen. Heart of Gold DJs a San Francisco based all woman DJ company that I adore provided the beats. Jac found handmade elements on Etsy, and a gown from Rue de Seine. But the venue friends… the venue was everything. The Inn at Newport Ranch is normally a bed and breakfast. The type of place you escape without children to read books & go on long walks with your partner. A clear your head type of retreat. What a gift it was to have this place to our small group of 60 people. The architectural details and elements of nature worked into the structures were the things that refreshed my soul.

Thank you Thomas and Jac for sharing the special place you have found with the rest of your family. It’s been fun watching you guys “become” and I can’t wait for some new little pale nieces and new nephews to join in on the fun with Winter. Now, you’re no longer living in sin so go make me some!!!
